Our Story
How We Met
It all started with a click – well more of a swipe. Erica and Alex were both on vacation at one of their favorite places Beaver Creek, Colorado. The trip was almost over and Erica was looking to find someone who could keep up with her on the mountain while Alex was looking for someone to grab a drink with. Both resorted to the prestigious– Jswipe dating app. Against all odds both swiped right on each other. It was their first step towards a future together. The banter was instant, highlighted by the endless debate as to who is a better skier. Alex was very confident but Erica was hesitant to believe that someone could ski as well as her. The only solution – a second date on the mountain. Alex said, “If you don’t believe me, meet me on the hill tomorrow.” Erica staying true to herself, said "let's meet at the Grouse mountain lift." Grouse being some of the hardest skiing on the mountain. Alex obliged. Alex met Erica at the lift and they proceeded to go up and as the story has it, Alex showed her that he wasn’t just as good as her… but better, at least in the trees and expert terrain. They skied together for a few hours and Alex was impressed -she was one of the best skiers he had ever met, cruising just as fast if not faster than him…this would be the first of many adventures Alex and Erica would go on together.
Us as a Couple
After Colorado, Alex and Erica spent multiple weekends traveling back and forth between Philly and NYC exploring the fun things each city offered and getting to know each other better. They realized both shared a love of traveling – Alex even agreed to go with Erica to her favorite place on earth -Disney World. Since then Erica and Alex have gone beyond Epcot and have taken trips around the world to places including Iceland, Barcelona, the Hamptons and the beaches of Delaware to name a few.
How He Asked
Their love grew and on February 27th, 2021, almost 2 years to date since they first met, Alex proposed to Erica. Alex knew the most romantic spot was right outside their apartment at Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. He had it all planned out and not even a call for Emergency Surgery at 3:30am could get in his way. Despite getting little sleep, he woke Erica up and suggested they go for Brunch. Alex casually brought her to the most romantic spot in the park. It was there that Alex told Erica how much he loved her and how much he wanted to spend every day with her. He got down on one knee and she said YES!!
Now, Erica and Alex can’t wait to tie the knot and celebrate with everyone in the place they first met…. and finally settle who is the better skier.

Transportation to and from Denver Airport and Eagle Airport
Epic Mountain Express (EME) provides transportation directly to your hotel from the Denver International Airport and Eagle Vail Airport. EME is a very professional and reliable shuttle service and a great option for those who do not need a car while visiting Colorado. For shuttle reservations and information, contact 970.754.7433 or visit their site.
For discounts on Epic Mountain Express, please go to: This Link
High Mountain Taxi provides service between Eagle Airport and Beaver Creek. We do NOT recommended trying to take a taxi or Uber from Denver!! Call 800.524.5555 or visit their site.
Car Rentals
If you’re planning on renting a car (see information below about why you don’t need to!) please be advised that the drive can be challenging in the snow if you are not experienced with it. When in doubt, EME is an excellent option.
Denver International Airport: All major car rental companies are represented at Denver airport.
Eagle County: Many car rental companies are represented at Eagle County airport. Both Hertz and Avis have offices within the regional airport.

FAQs
When should I plan to arrive?
This is totally up to you. The main event, the wedding, will begin on Saturday March 26th at around 5:30pm. Because travel in the mountains can be unpredictable we recommend people AT LEAST make it to Denver by Friday evening. There will be dinners leading up to the big day on Thursday and Friday night. Alex & Erica plan on spending the week leading up to the wedding in Beaver Creek, so if you are there early, don't worry! Come ski and enjoy the magic of Colorado with us!
When should I plan to depart?
If you plan on leaving from Denver, it is best to not book a flight for first thing in the morning, since the drive from Beaver Creek is AT LEAST 2.5 hours. We will be hosting a brunch Sunday morning at the Ritz for all to say goodbye to the happily married couple.
What should I pack?
We recommend checking the weather before you depart since it can be very variable in March. For more information visit the Packing Page.
Will I be able to ski while I am out there?
Absolutely! We’d love to show you all of our favorite trails at both Vail and Beaver Creek. Alex and Erica will be skiing all week leading up to the big day! For more details visit our Skiing Page.
What time is the mountain open?
The mountain is open from 8:30am - 4:00pm. Please note that some lifts close before 4:00pm
What is the dress code?
Information about the dress code can be found on the Packing Page.
Where are Alex and Erica Staying?
We will be staying in Bachelor Gulch adjacent to the Ritz Carlton Hotel. We recommend staying in the Bachelor Gulch area if possible to be close to all the action. However, staying in Beaver Creek Village has its own benefits and allows you transportation through the village connect system to come to Bachelor Gulch at any time. Additionally prices in Avon are more reasonable, yet there is not access to the Village connect system. Alex and Erica are happy to help you make the decision.
Is there a room block?
No rooms are being held at any property to allow you the most flexibility in choosing the lodging option that is best for you. Alex and Erica can help you with this selection if you wish. Please refer to the Where to Stay Section for more details.
Are kids included?
The weekend’s events are adult only, although we happily encourage you to bring your family out and show them the magic that is Colorado in the wintertime. Links to baby-sitters and other related details to come.
I am not a skier, what is there for me to do during the day?
There are a ton of amazing activities for those who do not ski. This includes amazing shopping and art galleries both in Beaver Creek and Vail, snowshoeing or cross country skiing up on the mountain with incredible vistas, relaxing spas, wonderful restaurants, and much more. See the Other Activites Page for more information.
How Far is Vail from Beaver Creek?
Approximately 20 minutes. There are transportation options to take you to Vail for an incredible day of skiing or to walk around this amazing ski resort town. Alex and Erica will be likely be skiing Vail mid week for those of you who’d like to join.
What is Bachelor Gulch?
It is an exclusive area of Beaver Creek Resort tucked away from the main Beaver Creek Resort Base with its own ski trails and ski lifts but is connected by ways of the mountain and access roads leading into the resort. Bachelor Gulch is home to the Ritz Carlton Hotel which will be the host hotel and center for the wedding activities.
Where is Avon in relation to Bachelor Gulch and Beaver Creek?
It is located below both Bachelor Gulch and Beaver Creek Resort in the valley and therefore not ski-in/ski out, however it does provide more economical options for lodging. The Westin Hotel Avon has its own Gondola which takes you to a chairlift that leads right to the base of Bachelor Gulch.
What about Covid?
This has been an unprecedented year for all of us. We understand that we have guests that are immunocompromised, may be pregnant, of advanced age, etc. We truly hope that by our wedding date, that this will all just be a memory. However, if there is still risk associated, we will be adhering to the latest guidelines provided by the CDC including mask wearing and other restrictions. Your health and happiness is our top priority. We will be updating this section as the date gets closer and we have a better idea of the current situation and guidelines.
We will be updating this site throughout the next year with more information & details, so be sure to check back!
